Day 2: Siem Reap: watch the sunrise over Angkor Wat & explore the complex

Begin your day with a breathtaking sunrise experience overlooking the magnificent Angkor temple complex, guided by our expert tour. Following this awe-inspiring start, return to the hotel for a hearty breakfast, gearing up for another full-day adventure to immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Khmer culture.

In the morning, your journey takes you to the ancient capital city of Angkor Thom. Your first stop is Ta Prohm, a temple steeped in mystery, with colossal tree roots intertwining through its ruins, creating an otherworldly atmosphere. This enigmatic site draws in both domestic tourists and intrepid explorers from around the world, each eager to uncover its secrets. Your exploration continues with visits to Banteay Kdei, known as the "citadel of Chambers," the Victory Gate, the Terrace of the Leper King, the Royal Palace, Baphuon, and Bayon.

At the heart of the Angkor Thom Complex stands Bayon Temple, an imposing structure built in the 12th century, which held great significance in the spiritual life of the Khmer people. The temple's hallmark is its nearly 200 serene smiling faces intricately carved into its walls, a testament to the enduring charm of ancient Khmer architecture, despite the passage of time and the impact of weather.

In the afternoon, your tour invites you to explore Angkor Wat, recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Its architectural design is a homage to India's legendary Meru Mountain, with the central tower soaring to a height of 65 meters, mirroring the peaks of Mount Meru. What makes Angkor Wat truly remarkable is its construction entirely from sandstone and honeycomb, with massive stone blocks meticulously stacked upon one another, devoid of binders or reinforced concrete, lending an air of enchantment to this architectural marvel.

Upon completing your exploration, you will be comfortably transported back to your hotel.

Day 3: Siem Reap: explore the lost city of Koh Ker & Beng Melea temples.

After enjoying a hearty breakfast, you'll embark on an exciting journey from Siem Reap to explore the hidden gem of Koh Ker. Nestled deep within the Cambodian forest for millennia, Koh Ker, like many other historical treasures in the region, has endured the test of time and the ravages of war. Despite its trials, every remaining detail of this temple complex continues to showcase the grandeur of a once-mighty empire.

Your day tour begins with a visit to Prasat Pram, the first temple on your itinerary. It boasts five awe-inspiring towers, some of which are gracefully draped in the embrace of ancient tree roots. As you continue your exploration, you'll come across Prasat Chin, often referred to as the Chinese temple, now in a state of captivating ruin, with its blackened laterite tower exposed to the heavens.

The tour then leads you to the sacred oil well of Andong Preng, located at the magnificent 37-meter-high Prasat Thom pyramid. Here, you'll encounter numerous brick temples and shrines, each bearing witness to the passage of a thousand years of history.

Moving towards the eastern part of the circuit, you'll have the opportunity to admire some of the largest temple lingas of the Khmer Empire: Prasat Krachap and Banteay Pichean, both shrouded in the embrace of the surrounding forest, where you might even spot majestic eagles soaring gracefully overhead.

The journey continues southward to the captivating jungle temple of Beng Mealea, hidden behind formidable walls and adorned with lush vegetation. Marvel at the colossal trees that have taken root within the temple's ancient ruins. Remarkably, Beng Mealea predates Angkor Wat by 30 years and shares a similar architectural style and layout. You'll have ample time for an in-depth exploration, clambering over fallen blocks and traversing towering walls to truly immerse yourself in its history and mystique.

After a fulfilling day of exploration, you'll be driven back to Siem Reap, where you'll spend the night, relishing the memories of your adventure in Koh Ker and Beng Mealea.
